Many of our clients came to us because keeping up with ongoing design needs was slowing their business down. A retainer gave them consistent support without hiring full-time.
Lex is a rare blend of creative, strategic, and collaborative. He listens to client needs, gives great recommendations, and executes flawlessly. He's helped us create beautiful brand identities, best-selling catalogs, and marketing collateral that pops. But more importantly, he's the type of person that is truly patient and an all around nice guy. It's refreshing! Confession: I was reluctant to write this because I'd like to keep Lex a secret and not have to share him with the world. But then you wouldn't experience the wonder of his creative brilliance. He's on demand for a reason. Get him while you can.

What is a design retainer?
A retainer is a monthly package that gives you a set number of design hours you can use for anything you need – marketing material, social media and website graphics, and more.
It gives you consistent support without hiring a full-time graphic designer.
How do I know which tier is right for me?
Tier 1: Momentum
Great for businesses that need creative support each month without the commitment of a large project. This tier covers small ongoing needs like polishing marketing materials. It is an easy, low-pressure way to make sure design tasks stop pilling up and your brand always stays presentable and professional.
Tier 2: Amplify
Designed for growing businesses with a regular flow of design needs. This tier provides a balanced level of support – enough to handle monthly tasks plus new initiatives as they come up. Ideal to stay ahead without overextending your team.
Tier 3: Elevate
For businesses that need steady, high-volume creative support. This tier gives you a dedicated design partner who works alongside your team, supporting your marketing team with whatever they need.
This is the closest you get to having an in-house designer – without hiring one.
What happens if I don't use all my hours?
Unused hours don't roll over to the next month. This is because your retainer reserves dedicated time in our schedule specifically for your business. However, most clients quickly find a steady rhythm – even if needs vary month to month, there are always touch-ups, updates, and new pieces we can create to keep your brand moving forward. And if you're unsure how to best use your remaining hours, we’ll proactively suggest ways to put them to work.
How do we communicate each month?
Most communication happens through email – and all task requests must be sent by email. We keep everything simple and organized. You will get access to a dedicated Google Drive folder for your business where you can upload any supporting material (documents, images, copy, references), and where we'll share layouts, mockups, revisions, and final files/artwork.
This keeps everything organized: email for clear task requests and approvals, Google Drive for all assets. If anything ever needs quick clarification, we can schedule a short call.
What happens if I need more hours than my plan includes?
If you need extra work in a busy month, that's no problem – we can add additional hours as needed. I'll always let you know ahead of time if a request will go beyond your monthly hours, so you stay fully in control, no hidden fees.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my retainer?
Yes. You can adjust your tier at the start of any new month. Many clients start small and move up once they see how much time they save and how smoothly things run with ongoing design support.
Is brand strategy and logo design included in the retainer?
No. Retainers cover ongoing design and creative support – meaning updates, new marketing materials, campaign assets, and general day-to-day design needs. Brand strategy workshops, full logo development, and full website projects are separate one-off engagements, since they require a different depth of work and process.
How does billing work?
Retainers are billed monthly and paid upfront to reserve your dedicated hours in our schedule. You'll receive an invoice each month, and work begins as soon as payment is received. Everything is straightforward, predictable, and transparent – no hourly guessing or unexpected invoices.
Who is the retainer NOT a good fit for?
Our retainers are not ideal if you only need a one-time project, if your needs are unpredictable or months apart, or if you require full brand strategy or logo development (those are separate projects). Retainers are for businesses that need consistent, ongoing design support month after month.
What if I have a one-time project instead of ongoing needs?
If you need branding, a logo, a website, or a single project like a brochure, pitch deck, or packaging design, you can simply book us project-by-project with a custom scope and fixed price.
This approach is best for:
• Large, defined deliverables
• Full brand strategy and brand identity projects
• Website design or full campaigns
• Projects with a clear start and end
Project-based hiring is perfect when you need one focused thing done really well.
What if I need something urgently?
No problem! If a rush request comes up, we'll do our best to accommodate it depending on our current schedule. If it requires working outside standard timelines, we'll let you know upfront so you can decide how you'd like to proceed. Clear communication ensures nothing is ever a surprise.
What types of projects can you complete within my monthly hours?
It depends on complexity, but there are simple examples to help you estimate:
Tier 1: Momentum (10hours/month)
• A couple of social media posts, a flyer, updates to existing material
Tier 2: Amplify (20hours/month)
• A small campaign set, several graphics, plus a brochure or landing page layout.
Tier 3: Elevate (40hours/month)
• Ongoing multi-channel support, campaign design, consistent weekly output, and working alongside your marketing team.
